Local Utility Providers

The City of Blair provides water and waste water services to residential and commercial customers in Blair. The following utilities are provided by the firms listed below. Please contact them directly to request new service or for problems with your service.

Solid Waste / Garbage

The City of Blair has entered into an agreement with Douglas County authorizing the City of Blair to dispose of solid waste in the Douglas County Landfill near Elk City, Nebraska. It is unlawful for any person to dispose of or dump garbage or solid waste, except grass and leaves, at any other location or site other than the Douglas County Landfill.

By City Ordinance, all Solid Waste Haulers removing waste from the city limits of Blair, including haulers who only drop off and pick up dumpsters, are required to dispose of all waste in the Douglas County Landfill and obtain from the City Clerk's office a "Solid Waste Transporter's License". A license and license fee of $300 must be executed and paid prior to any Solid Waste Hauler collecting solid waste within the city limits of Blair.

All residents of the city limits are required to have proper garbage containers with tight-fitting lids and obtain solid waste services from a licensed Solid Waste Hauler. View a list of the currently licensed Solid Waste Haulers in Blair.

Recycling

The Washington County Recycling Center is located at 440 S 3rd Street in Blair. The facility is operated by the Washington County Recycling Association (WCRA), a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the environment. The Center is operated with all volunteers and is open every Saturday morning (excluding holidays) from 8 am to Noon. The Center is also open to area businesses on Tuesday afternoons in the winter and Tuesday mornings in the summer.
